- The Award of the Distinguished Flying
Cross

- Under the provisions of Army
Regulation 600-45, 22 September 1943, and pursuant to authority
contained in letter 200.6, Headquarters Eighth Air
Force, dated 21 June 1944, Subject:
“Awards and Decorations,” the Distinguished Flying Cross is
awarded to the following named Officer for extraordinary achievement,
as set forth in citation.

- Harold A. Vogel, 1st
Lieutenant, Army Air Forces, United States Army.
For extraordinary achievement while serving as a pilot of a
B-17 airplane on many heavy bombardment missions over German occupied
Continental Europe.
Lieutenant Vogel’s marked professional aptitude in the handling of his
aircraft and capable leadership as airplane commander aided in the
successful destruction of many enemy military objectives.
The courage, coolness, and skill displayed by Lieutenant Vogel
on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the
Military forces of the United States.
